What is This Blog?

This blog will primarily be a crafting/creating blog, but that doesn't mean there won't be any non-craft-related posts. After all, I do have interests outside of crafting. That being said, here are some things you will find in future posts:
-Basic sewing and crafting tips. I am currently working on a few "tutorials" so to speak to help out any beginners who may want to learn how to sew or crochet. They will be basic instructions and tips/tricks I have learned along the way.
-Project tutorials. I plan to put together a few full tutorials for some of the things that I make. I will not be doing tutorials for everything however as I prefer to keep some of my ideas and details to myself.
-Completed projects. I will be making posts about some of my finished projects, especially the ones I am particularly proud of.
-Every so often I may feel inclined to post things that I think are really cool, or information that I think is valuable. Hell, I may even post some information that is completely useless from time to time if I think it's cool enough! =)
-General rants, and tales of day to day life. Trust me, when you have 3 kids there is ALWAYS something to talk about!

I think that just about sums it up! Like almost any blog, most of the thing posted here will be MY personal opinions or outlooks on things. That means no one HAS to agree with it or like it, but this is my place to post what I wish to.
Comments, constructive criticism, and even arguments are always welcome.
I'm going to clean my kitchen now, then hopefully get another post or two up. Stay tuned, and good day!

Long time, no posts!

It's been quite a while since I have posted anything on here. What can I say?.. Life has been full of crazy these last few months. I got my new sewing machine back in February and have been totally in love with the thing! It's the Brother SE-400 computerized sewing and embroidery machine.

Unfortunately, right now it's in the repair shop. Yup, that's right folks, she had a little mishap. I was sewing along all fine and dandy when all of a sudden it just stopped dead in its tracks. The LCD screen said "safety mechanism activated" and it shut down. Typically this happens when the needle bends and/or the thread gets tangled up under the needle plate. I got the needle off and pulled out the thread but there was nothing bent or tangled at all. Upon looking a little deeper I found that the needle bar had somehow bent slightly and had gouges on the back of it that were catching as it moved up and down. I greased it up enough to move the needle bar all the way up, then called the repair shop. It went in on Saturday. I should have it back in a couple weeks. This minor mishap hasn't diminished my faith in the Brother brand at all. Everything has issues from time to time. I'm just glad they are good about honoring their warranty and everything will be covered!

For now, I'm off here to try to get some sleep. I plan on posting a full review on the machine within the next day or so, so stay tuned!

Out With the Old.....

Today I am retiring my old sewing machine. I will be keeping it around as a "backup". It's been a good machine and has seen MUCH use, but alas it is time to get with the modern world. I will be buying a new machine later today, the Brother SE 400, and I can't wait to get it home and start using it! So here is farewell to my old friend, the Kenmore Ultra Stitch 8:

And here are just a few of the things it has helped me make:

I look forward to doing some projects on my new machine when I get it and posting them on here! Until later.... I'm off!  =)
Have a good day everyone! I know I will!

Making Progress...

I've been spending the last couple days working on some graphics and such for my blog here. So far I have a banner done and a few ideas for backgrounds. It's a work in progress..and it's coming along! I want to get my page just the way I want it before I get into making posts on a regular basis. Updates will follow. =)

My First Post....

My name is Carla. I'm a 25 year old stay-at-home mom. I have 3 beautiful children, 2 step children, and 2 step grandchildren. I also have the most amazing man by my side that anyone could ever ask for. =)
I have decided to start a blog on here for my crafting. I learned to sew and crochet from my mom when I was a kid and have decided I want to start getting into those things a little bit more. Being a stay home mom I need something to kill time when the kids are sleeping, or (very rarely!) actually being quiet and out of my hair!
Here's to the beginning of my adventure into crafting land, and bringing along as many people as I can!
